Rooted in Love Garden

The Rooted in Love Garden is part of the Mission/Social Justice Committee.

Latest Garden News:

Growing in the garden now are beets, cabbage, green peppers, basil, parsley, thyme, egg plant, pole and bush beans, jalapeño peppers, okra, sweet peppers, lettuce, broccoli, and cauliflower.

Sharon Eaton presented information about our garden to the Off Shore Garden Club at the Linwood Library, and the club donated $50 to the garden!

Besides planting, the volunteers set up the  rain barrels, relocated the compost bin, labelled the waste cans, and removed the Eco Soil from the parking lot.  Thanks to all our volunteers.

A good time was had by all!

Spring is here, volunteers are needed!

The Rooted in Love Vegetable Garden exists for the purpose of growing produce for area food pantries and distribution sites who help feed food insecure individuals in Atlantic City and Pleasantville.  Volunteer gardeners are OHPC members and/or friends who plant, maintain, and deliver the produce to designated sites.

Here's How It Works:
Weekly emails are sent to volunteers indicating what garden work is needed during that week.  If you are able and available, simple reply to the email that you can help.  No reply needed if it’s not the job for you.

Here are some of the things volunteers can help with:
•placing soil and compost in the raised beds
•assisting with composting
•growing seeds from home
•planting watering
weeding •harvesting
•delivering the produce to the distribution sites

NOTE:  Two of the 12 raised beds are chair height to assist with planting and weeding.

The garden is located behind our building just off the back of our parking lot, and is enclosed by a fence.

If you would like to be added to the volunteer list, please contact Sharon Eaton at seaton18@aol.com.
