Children & Youth & Adult Education

The educational offerings for the children and youth of the OHPC community consist of three major components:

Children’s Ministry Sunday is every second Sunday throughout the year. This class takes place during the 10:00 AM worship service and is led by volunteers who follow OHPC’s Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy.
Vacation Bible School takes place each summer for a partial week. Stay tuned for information regarding the 2026 VBS offering.
Small Talk is incorporated into the worship service each week. It takes place between the two Scripture readings and is a message tailored to a younger audience (that often also helps the other people in the congregation, too).

There is also a nursery room located in the church building. This is a space designed to be a nurturing and fun room for families to attend worship together. There is a TV capable of streaming the worship service so that the adult(s) attending to the fully-embodied play and worship of their child(ren) can remain engaged in the worship service, too. The room is at the opposite end of the church building from the sanctuary. To get there, you’ll walk through the narthex and down the central hallway. Keep walking until you enter another meeting room (the Mr. Rogers’ Room) and then the nursery is on the left.

To accommodate infants, toddlers, and young children at different ages and stages, the church offers changing tables and removable toddler potty seats in each of the restrooms. In the nursery, there is also a changing table. The nursery has wipes available to disinfect toys and other hard surfaces. The bathrooms have wipes to wipe down the potty seats before and after use.

There are several adult educational opportunities at OHPC, open to anyone interested.

Pastor Katherine leads a weekly Bible study conversation, called Preparing the Way, that looks at the two texts for the coming Sunday. She doesn’t have an agenda and instead waits to see where the Holy Spirit leads the group in conversation and questions. This happens on Wednesdays at 10:00 AM in the Meeting Room.
There is a group called Heart and Soul which meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM. Recently, this group centers their discussion on a book they’re reading together.
Two different women’s Bible studies meet once a month: one on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 10:00 AM and one on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:00 PM.

Adult Education takes place on Sundays after worship, beginning at 11:30 AM. These classes offer a wide variety of topics and styles, depending upon the teacher. Each class topic is announced in the E-news and in worship – to find out the schedule, please reach out to the church office or check the church portal.
